European Master and Certification Program
in Risk Engineering and Management

In the framework of the EU FP7 project iNTeg-Risk "Early Recognition, Monitoring and Integrated Management of Emerging, New Technology related Risks", Steinbeis University (STI Advanced Risk Technologies) and other project partners have set up a modern and modular European Master and Certification Program with the emphasis on management and analysis of emerging risks related to new technologies. Integrated Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability

The course is open for students of the universities and employees of the companies participating in the project, as well as for the external participants.

The course presents basic elements of the concept of Corporate (Social) Responsibility (CSR) and its practical application in industry. It starts with key elements of the CSR, focuses on CSR methodologies and tools and on the technology related aspects as a part of the modern practices of industry (HSE, HSSE). Analysis/comparison of the practices in the EU, US and other countries and relevant data and information on best practices worldwide are elaborated, including a number of relevant case studies from the key industries and references to main sources of relevant data and information. A particular unit of the course is dedicated to the ISO 26000 standard.

At the end of the course the students are expected to know

  1. why is iCSR becoming one of the main challenges facing the private sector, government, and civil society
  2. what are the main benefits of addressing iCSR challenges in a systematic and timely manner
  3. what are key elements of iCSR and how these elements function as an integrated system
  4. how iCSR should be practically embedded into corporate and/or country business strategy and daily practice (iCSR methodologies and tools
  5. what are the technology related aspects which are part of modern practice of industry 
  6. details on the best practice world-wide and what are the main sources of relevant data and information.

 

The course is dedicated to

  • students
  • representatives of the governmental institutions, private sector and civil society dealing with social responsibility issues including corporate/regional/national strategies
  • managers at all levels in an organization/institution.

At the end of the course the students are expected to know
